Flat Reed
|

Any basket in which the majority of the basket
is woven with flat or flat oval reed that has
been milled from the rattan plant.

Traditional
|
|
Traditional style baskets made with locally
available materials such as white ash, black
ash, or oak. Generally influenced by the Native
American cultures.
|
|
Coiled
|
|
The two basic parts of these baskets are the
core, which is a firm but flexible material, and
the wrapping or stitching which is a highly
flexible material. Baskets are built by winding
a series of coils on top of each other and
stitching or wrapping these coils together.

Natural
|
|
Baskets made from naturally grown and gathered
materials such as bark, grasses, twigs, leaves,
quills, vines, roots, etc.

|
Miniature
|
|
Any basket made as a tiny replication of any
style basket. Size must be 4” x 4” x 4” or
smaller.
|
|
Nantucket
|
|
Baskets made with a wooden base, woven over a
mold using cane; the rims are nailed and whipped
(lashed using the “whip” stitch).

|
Art Piece
|
|
Any container of an original design by the
weaver made of any weaving style and with
any type of material.
|
|
Round Reed
|
|
Baskets that are made entirely of round reed
which is milled from the rattan plant into
various diameters.

|
Ribbed
|
|
Baskets made with a frame for the rim, skeleton
(ribs) and handle. Any type materials may be
used.
